Gyouzaya
About This Spot
Stepping into Gyouzaya is like slipping into a small, warmly lit cocoon nestled in the lively streets of Takamatsu. This intimate dumpling spot, with just a handful of seats, captures a pace that’s unhurried yet purposeful—there’s a quiet hum of anticipation as locals and visitors alike patiently wait their turn to share in a truly simple, satisfying ritual. The space invites a kind of closeness, both to the food and to the genuine moments of connection quietly unfolding around the counter.
The rhythm here is shaped by the art of making gyoza by hand, right before your eyes. The crisp, thin skins crackle with every bite, a delicate contrast to the soft, savory filling inside. It’s a humble menu, almost minimal in its offering, centered on these freshly crafted dumplings paired with refreshing, seaweed-speckled cucumbers dressed in salt. The focus allows each flavor to shine quietly yet insistently, encouraging you to slow down and savor the simple joys of real craftsmanship.
Amidst the soft chatter and shared smiles, there’s a sense of belonging—everyone here knows the best way to appreciate these gyoza isn’t through lavish choices but through a shared appreciation for something well made. It’s a spot where the humbleness of the food meets the warmth of human moments, where locals queue up not just for a quick bite but for the chance to step into a calming, unpretentious experience. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular, the comfortable, straightforward atmosphere invites you to linger a little, enjoy the moment, and perhaps repeat one more plate.

The staff were nice. I honestly walked into this restaurant accidentally because I read the Google Maps wrong but I ended up eating really good gyoza with thin and crispy skin. Be aware that there is only gyoza for mains and seaweed cucumbers for side dishes. Recommend plum wine. A lot of locals were queuing up outside so we quickly ate and drank and exited. ごちそうさまでした!

It is the best dumpling restaurant in Takamatsu. You have no choice but to keep eating dumplings that you make right away. The evaluation of the party who went together was also the same. I recommend you to stop by. The disadvantage is that there are few seats, so the waiting can be long. Still, the best-tasting dumplings are handmade in takamatsu.

Cute 8-seater Gyoza place. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get inside, but it was worth the wait. Gyoza were delicious with thin, crispy shells. Watched them being made right in front of our eyes.

Love the crunch, this gyoza is on the crispy spectrum. Almost like a snack, I can't stop eating.

Ordered the gyoza, it was delicious. Very small but soft and crispy at the same time.

We have been to this shop twice during our 3 day stay in Takamatsu because of the gyozas and the friendly staff. The gyozas were crunchy on the bottom, soft on the sides and packing a lot of flavour. The shop is small, so you may have to wait until you get a seat. In case you do not want to wait, you can order the gyozas as take out.

A 10 seater hole in the wall gyoza joint. Best freshly made each time gyozas. Delicious. Humble honest work from this man. We had 21 gyozas each and couple of cucumber salads. And a drink each
